The 312T2 Monaco ’76 is Hasegawa’s the first 1/20 Formula 1 kit so I was very curious about the quality. After inspecting all parts the summary from my point of view is that Hasegawa did a magnificent job. All parts are very detailed and will result in a nice model without any modification. On the other hand the level of detail provided gives the opportunity to add more detail and thus realism and this is the path that I am going to follow.
Building
Monocoque
After a quick check of all parts and the instruction manual I decided to start with the monocoque. The first thing I didn’t like were the moulded in water pipes at the monocoque rear side that I decided to remove and later replace with metal rod. They are also used as fixation pins for the sidepods. If you decide to remove them you will have to be careful when fixing the sidepods at a later stage of the built as the references / alignment pins are missing. After a first attempt to keep the end sections as fixation points I decided to remove them completely.
