This Project took me one year of work. The entire scheme was entirely painted without using any decal, and as I’m not an artistic painter, I didn’t use the airbrush. Everything was achieved alternatively as you’ll see.
At the beginning of the 70s, while the US Army reached to the conclusion that the attack helicopter AH-56 Cheyene should be replaced with a new advanced type (el AH-64 Apache), the Soviet’s air force started to operate the over one thousand of Mil Mi-24 “Hind” that were produced, and nowadays this is a powerful attack weapon in the hands of very qualified pilots.
As something curious, let me tell you that I’ve seen it flying at the 2006 Murcia air exhibition and I was very impressed to see such a mass of steel making the maneuvers it was able to execute.
The kit
When I purchased the kit, I’ve never imagined I would end achieving this decoration.
I knew nothing about Minihobby Models and on opening the box, I felt completely disappointed. Leaving aside the shape which is correct in general and exterior rivets that are well represented, I had to face with many difficulties.
The cockpit is almost nonexistent and the little it features, is completely out of scale. The instruments are a bad joke and everything is useless.
The rear where the soldiers stay, is acceptable, so from the beginning I thought to leave it as is, since it would not be worth working on it too much. |

Construction
I started with the cockpit and used the Eduard etched set to detail the interiors. I removed all the floor and cockpit sides since nothing coming with the kit is useful. You should be careful since the etched parts are metal ones, so, I had to cut little by little up to getting a good fit of them with the plastic.
