Decalogue of the good modeler
By Mario Covalski
Ever since the man gathered into social groups, a huge number of rules were established to indicate how to do things the right way. According to those rules, an individual is good, honest, healthy, happy…or not.
Let me share with you my decalogue to be a good modeler:
-Always start with the easiest kits, even though they are not our favorite.
-It’s always better to listen to the advice from experienced modelers, though may be boring at times.
-Before starting to build!!!, always read through the tutorials about how techniques have to be accomplished, never improvising if everything has not been completely understood, even when gone are those school days.
-Do an extensive research to gather all the available information about the subject we’re going to build though we do not have a vocation for that or we’re not interested in its history at all.
-Always try to build highly detailed models, though we’re not interested in adding details
-Make sure to buy only the kit boxes we’re going to build, to satisfy our girlfriends, wives...etc.
-Envy our friend or neighbor's model, though he’s more skilful than us.
-Say that we couldn’t finish the model due to the lack of time, keeping it on the workbench during months, when it really doesn’t like us at all.
-Compete in every contest we can, forums…etc, build models just for the sake of winning, though this may cause us stress and we loose the focus of our hobby.
-As everyday life activities, try to be the best, and show others we’re getting there.
Well, that’s not all folks, there’s more, but with this, you may have an idea of how to be a good modeler
NEVERTHELESS, if you want to be a HAPPY modeler…just do it the other way around!!!.
