Tamiya introduced this kit after the success of the 1/12 masterwork series of models. This is the second in the series released in December 2012 after the Ferrari Enzo. This article is devoted to novices so as to help them to build, which is perhaps, their first 1/12 model car.

The Porsche Carrera GT was first shown to the public in the autumn of 2000, at the Paris Motor Show. It's official debut was in 2003. The Carrera GT has a carbon fibre monocoque chassis and body to give it the rigidity and strength required for a modern super car. The Engine is a mid mounted 68 degree V10 producing 612 horsepower, this power was harnessed using a Porsche ceramic composite clutch and horizontally mounted 6 speed transmission.

Building

Engine

The instructions start with the build of the engine, this was a very straight forward assembly with some sharp detail touches such as the ignition harness wiring and HT caps.

Care must be taken to align the two crank case halves as this will affect how the engine sits in the chassis later on.
