Read More here > Legal notice I wanted to build the car that Lee Arnold Petty usedg during part of the 1955 Nascar season. He was an American stock car racing driver who competed during the 1950s and 1960s. He was one of the pioneers of NASCAR and one of its first superstars. He is also the father of Richard Petty, who went on to become one of the most successful stock car racing drivers of all time.
I used the Moebius kit that represents the Chrysler 300 car that I modified to match the Petty car, and used a decal set from Power Slide. This is a kitbashing project since some parts of another kit (Moebius Models Tim Flock’s 1956 Chrysler 300 kit) were used to make this 1955 Chrysler a racing car.
Construction This is a nice kit from Moebius Models. The parts have good fitting and fine detail. An aftermarket decal sheet (Power Slide brand) was also used to depict the stock car driven by Lee Petty.
I started by cleaning the body. The first step was removing the injector pin marks inside the body using.
This is the inside of the body prior to the cleaning job.
I used this profile scrapper that I found at a hobby shop in Japan. It's a nice tool that has six scrapping parts with different sizes and shapes that allow conforming to various curves of the body.
