He founded his own team “Blignaut Lucky Strike Racing” in 1973 and used the Tyrrell 004 to run during the FIA F1 Championship and the South African National F1 Championship. In 1974 the Tyrrell 004 ran in the Embassy livre. The young driver Eddie Keizan was on the wheel for Alex Blignaut.
